Swept by a pandemic that shuttered runway shows, retail stores, and photoshoots, the industry was forced to reckon with the breakneck, oftentimes antiquated fashion system.

Three fashion brands owned by Nigerian women will featured at the 2020 virtual FashInnovation tagged ‘Worldwide Talks NYFW’ ahead of New York Fashion Week on September 10. These brands include Zizi Cardow, Morin. O and Ita’i Our Cloth, who had come together to empower women and develop communities, to revive the art of weaving.

Steve Aoki and Alberto Candiani have been friends for 10 years through Aoki’s late manager, Michael Theanne. It only took them 8 of those to find the time to collaborate on a project. Though the idea was new to Aoki, sustainable fashion was still a relatively new concept to most. And in 2012 after a tour of the Candiani denim factory, the Grammy-nominated DJ was hooked to the idea of sustainable denim.
