NYFW Weekend Recap & Rising Sustainable Brands We Admire in 2022

read 4 min

The weekend in New York City was exciting. NYFW is always a special time for the fashion community. Before introducing the 3rd round of rising sustainable brands we admire, let’s take a look at the latest highlights from one of the most important fashion weeks in the world.

NYFW Weekend Recap

The Fall/Winter 2022 Brandon Maxwell collection was a little personal with brown-and-black color combos. The show was a tribute to the designer’s grandmother, who was always his inspiration to Sustainable Brands.

The ending was even more interesting. As said by Harper’s Bazaar, the final clothing was a floral print that he originally designed and painted in watercolor by Maxwell’s grandfather “as part of a literal valentine”.

Another memorable moment of the weekend was the PatBo show. It happened against the backdrop of Surrogate’s Court, a historic building located in Downtown New York.

Rising Sustainable Brands

For her second in-person show at New York Fashion Week, the Brazilian designer Patricia Bonaldi brought “bombshell territory – cropped dresses and super sheer tops included – but with new forays into embroidered jeans and quilted velvet jackets.”

Also, another highlight of the weekend was Rebecca Hessel Cohen, the founder of LoveShackFancy. There was quite a princess-like style present. But even though, as said by Harper’s Bazaar, it’s okay. “Even cool!— to embrace the radical softness of girly Sustainable Brands clothes. promise.”

Rising Sustainable Brands We Admire

Able Made

Able Made 1

Able Made is athleisure for the active and the activists. It powers a global movement that unites them for the love of the game, the planet and each other. Able Made creates its products with heart. After losing her husband to sudden cardiac arrest while playing the game he loved, Suzanne McKenzie created a youth soccer foundation in his honor and followed with Able Made to support it.

Since launching Able Made, her vision raises and resets standards by weaving circularity, sustainability, quality, and authenticity into purposeful collections that are more gentle on the planet, generate local jobs, create healthier communities, and give back.

The Big Favorite

The Big Favorite 1

Another rising sustainable brand we admire is The Big Favorite. It was once led by its founder’s great grandfather in the 30s, relaunched in 2020 with super soft, plastic-free Pima cotton base layers that run on a circular system.

The Big Favorite quantified that 11M pounds of undergarment textile waste enter U.S. landfills daily because undergarments can’t go to donation or resale. The brand facilitates a take-back program to be able to upcycle its undergarments into new material and rewards customers for diverting waste from landfills.

Blinded By Color Project

Blinded by Color Project 1

Blinded By Color Project is a journey, from the waters of rural India, through the hands of skilled artisans, all the way into our conscious closets. Inspired by the spirit of universal love, Blinded By Color Project’s creates its genderless resort wear collections with 100% recycled cotton. The raw material is naturally dyed under the sun and co-created in small batches at demand.

By collecting every inch of fabric scraps; the brand doesn’t discard a thing when creating one of a kind zero-waste pieces. At BBCP, they dream of a world where waste and pollution don’t exist. Where products and materials circulate & ecosystems are healthy and plenty. Collectively contributing to the preservation of culture, craftsmanship and sustainable livelihoods.

A portion of BBCP revenue supports the water conservation system and community base initiative in Kaladera Village. Rajasthan, one of the creative’s homes of Blinded By Color Project collections. They are one with nature and with this spirit, they have built their foundation.
