Péter Baldaszti is the Co-founder and CEO of fashion label Nanushka and the Founder and CEO of its fashion group parent company Vanguards.
Vanguards specializes in investing in leading brands operating in the ‘New Luxury’ space where — compared to many traditional luxury brands — content and commerce are seamlessly integrated, there is always a finger on the pulse of contemporary culture, one looks outside of its own market segment and responsibility is prioritized.
With an ambition to build out the iconic brands of tomorrow, Vanguards takes a tailored approach to each of its portfolio brands by combining the agility of creative entrepreneurs and the expertise of big fashion groups,, backed by the funding of institutional investors — always with the utmost respect for creative autonomy.
To date, the group has invested in three reputable new luxury brands. Starting with Nanushka, Vanguards has gone on to take a majority stake in knitwear led womenswear label AERON in Spring 2020, followed by another majority investment in experimental Milanese brand SUNNEI in December of the same year. Today, the group has offices in London, New York, Budapest and Milan.
Prior to establishing Vanguards, Baldaszti joined Nanushka as Co-owner and CEO in 2016 — joining his longtime partner Sandra Sandor — after which he grew the company from 1 million euros to 50 million in 5 years. Under his leadership, Nanushka has cemented itself as a pioneer in the responsible luxury space, expanded its category offering with menswear, eyewear and accessories, grown the number of its global stockists to 400 and opened flagship stores in Budapest, New York, London and Shanghai.
Baldaszti was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. As a serial entrepreneur, he founded his first company, a tech recruitment platform, during his university years. After exiting the business, he ventured into the hospitality and creative industries where he opened various restaurants, clubs and other ventures.
