Efficiency Power in The Sustainability

read 3 min

When we talk about sustainability, it is always good to remember how powerful efficiency is

A few years ago, in one of our most inspiring and impactful conversations, we welcomed Alberto Candiani, who is the owner of Candiani Denim, and today we are going to remember one of his speeches about efficiency:

Candiani efficiency

“To be efficient is the very first step you want to take if you want to be sustainable. So you don’t want to create waste, but if you do, you just want to make sure you want to recycle it. So I was telling Steve about this whole process and he was really impressed.” – Alberto Candiani

It is very easy to think about ESG, sustainability and efficiency as a practice in the fashion world, because when companies work efficiently in their production and negotiation stages, the chances of raw materials being misused are very low.

Efficiency within the market

Another important point is the greater use of pieces within the market, which makes efficient control of production and sales, as Alberto argues, an important point within sustainability in the fashion world.

Not only that, but it allows producers and people within the fashion market to deliver to consumers at the cutting edge not only products designed from a sustainable perspective – which is what interests us -, but also made with the best available since from conception to the final product.

To make clothes cheaper and increase sales, some companies adopted a business model that focuses only on profiting and, consequently, production amount. After all, the more they produce, the more they’ll sell.

Of course, there are a lot of strategies behind it, such as marketing, communications, and trend hunting. In short, fast fashion it’s not concerned about the employee’s situation or the environmental impact.

Artificial intelligence

It is currently impossible to talk about efficiency and not mention artificial intelligence. This is because its use goes far beyond chatgpt, for the fashion and textile market the use of AI has played a fundamental role in revolutionizing the way clothes are created, produced and sold. This innovative technology has been applied to design, consumer experience and even identifying market trends.

fashion efficiency

With advanced algorithms and machinelearning, fashion companies can analyze sales data, consumer behavior and even weather data to predict what trends will be next. This allows brands to anticipate market demands, creating collections that meet consumer expectations. Another way technology is transforming fashion is through the use of virtual and augmented reality.

Efficiency as a goal

We have already talked here at Fashinnovation about the concept of Fast-Fashion –  Fast fashion is a type of mass-produced meal designed for commercial resale and focused on serving fast. It’s not concerned about your health or its impact on our planet -, and we believe that thinking about efficiency within the fashion world means combating the misuse of resources and materials and also unsustainable consumption, which unfortunately is still a practice within the fashion world.

Efficiency and fast fashion

The fashion industry is one of the most affected by environmental discussions, and Fashinnovation aims to provide a sustainable vision within this industry, causing a sustainable reduction in the way fashion is thought about and produced.

It is urgent in today’s world that we bring ideals that are capable of really causing a change in the way fashion is done, and this from the base to the influence that the fashion world has on the minds of consumers and fashion lovers. Efficiency as an idea and as a goal, within this, can be one of the keys capable of responding to the need for a more dynamic and sustainable fashion world.

These and other discussions about the fashion world await you at the next Worldwilde Talks 2024, The Biggest Fashion & Innovation Event in The World physical in September 4th in New York and Streaming Online in September 12th.
