Kick-Off of NYFW & Meet The Companies We Support

read 5 min

Here at Fashinnovation, we always have the pleasure to highlight up-and-coming talents in the industry. The companies we support are sustainable, diverse and have social values at their core.

In the next five days, we’ll present you with a variety of brands and companies we support. But, before introducing you to the first round, let’s discuss what we can expect from the first day of NYFW.

NYFW Fall 2022

We all believed that in this edition of NYFW, Coronavirus would have already given us a truce. However, this is not quite the reality.

Major brands such as Tom Ford have canceled their fashion shows due to the current pandemic situation. However, going from Manhattan to Brooklyn will still be necessary to see Gabriela Hearst at the Agger Fish Building and Dion Lee at the Box Factory.

We did a post on our Instagram sharing a little bit of what to expect from this edition. Check out below some of the main points.

1. In-person and digital event

The schedule mixes in-person and virtual shows, with live runways, presentations, and live-stream runways. In-person events will be subject to the CFDA’s COVID health and safety plan.

2. Designers

The week will open with Proenza Schouler and end with The Blonds. Favorite designers are also Michael Kors, Dion Lee, Jason Wu, Christian Siriano, Carolina Herrera, Khaite, Tory Burch, Coach, LaQuan Smith, and more.

3. Designers that won’t attend

Tom Ford announced on January 24 that he’ll no longer be showcasing his fall 2022 runway show due to the pandemic. Thom Browne won’t be able to attend the event either. However, fashionistas will still see a physical show with a new date scheduled for April 29.

4. New designers

New talent on the schedule of the NYFW includes Melke, Saint Sinatra, Dauphinette and Jody Turner, and others.

5. Where is it going to happen?

Spring Studios will continue to be the home of New York Fashion Week. Also, NYFW will live-broadcast shows on their website.

Companies We Support

Today we start the first round of presentations. As we said earlier, in the next few days we will introduce a series of brands that are in line with the purposes and values of Fashionnovation.

Check below some of these companies we support:

JVLAURNT

JVLAURNT

JVLAURNT is a street, contemporary-lifestyle brand, based out of NYC. The brand is inspired by NYC street and the busy lifestyles of Jennifer Laurantius and her friends, bringing progression, inclusivity, and a sense of purpose.

Jennifer and her friends run around NYC from meetings to parties, photoshoots, events, etc. She wants to create pieces that can help people to shop less, and shop smarter, by getting clothing that is transitional, versatile, functional, seasonless, convertible, and still cool for all of these events in our life. The pieces that the brand creates are a balance of comfort, functionality, and street–influenced-style in modern language.

JVLAURNT is committed to ethical practices, making sustainability-conscious decisions in the supply chain process, and slow fashion. They only produce styles in small batches, or one-of-a-kind, since all the pieces are made from deadstock materials. Pieces will only be made in NYC and Indonesia, as Jennifer would like to support her community and where she came from, also in order to ensure fair and safe labor practices.
