CBD Skincare: New Cannabis Beauty Products ‘ Secret Ingredient

read 3 min

Cannabis has been a hot topic, especially in countries where people’s opinions about it are divided.

Recently, beyond its reputation for helping people reduce stress, the world has welcomed more news about cannabis and its properties, making it a hot item for beauty regimens.

In this article, we detail why cannabis might just be the next big thing in the world of beauty.

How Did Cannabis Become a Beauty Product?

The evolution of cannabis beauty products has stemmed from years of research, especially about its anti-inflammatory properties. For one, CBD oil has been slowly gaining traction over the past few years due to its ability to remove eye bags and even treat eczema.

It is no wonder that most researchers continue their work to analyze the role that cannabis can play in the skincare industry, especially for those who seek to have younger-looking skin or reduce the inflammation of painful skin conditions.

Cannabis is also rife with potential for those who look for preventive healthcare alternatives.

Cannabis Legalization and CBD Products

The legalization of CBD products, it must be noted, comes from the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. On the federal level, the bill legalizes the reclassification of hemp as an agricultural product; farmers can therefore sell it and grow it – which is why CBD products are on the rise not only as skincare products but also as health supplements. Given CBD oil legalization in Texas, there has been more incentive to try CBD products, which mostly come from marijuana and hemp. The product has flown off the shelves.

New York CBD laws also allow for the use of cannabis beauty products, provided they only have 0.3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Note, however, that CBD is not legal in all states in the US. For example, those who wish to use it can only purchase marijuana-derived CBD oil from specific places; those with limited access to all CBD goods include the states of North Carolina, Iowa, Mississippi, and Kansas.

The Potential Beauty Benefits of CBD

As mentioned above, CBD offers a wide array of potential beauty benefits. In the sections below, we give more details about these benefits.

How Do CBD Beauty Products Work?

CBD beauty products are available in many ways. They usually come with carrier oils, which include but are not limited to argan oil, olive oil, shea butter, and coconut oil.

One who uses CBD must identify which carrier oil bodes well with one’s skin. Another way to take CBD products is through oral CBD, which is known to help a few cases of acne.

Why Is CBD in Skincare Products?

We use CBD skincare products mainly because their properties aid acne prevention, psoriasis treatment, and anti-aging efforts. We will detail the benefits below.

Treating Psoriasis With Cannabis

A strong example of the benefits of cannabis, when used in skincare products, is its potential to treat psoriasis. Psoriasis is a widely known skin condition; people with it suffer from a painful and itchy condition.

Researchers are currently exploring the many possibilities for using cannabis to treat skin diseases. For one, cannabis can help delay the growth of immature skin cells, known as keratinocytes, that people with psoriasis have.

Researchers also see the potential of psoriasis in healing wounds and limiting the production of the mentioned skin cells through the help of cannabinoids. A study in 2016 highlights its benefits for the nervous and immune systems, while a survey in 2010 emphasizes its use in battling inflammation and regulating the immune system.

Cannabis as an Anti-Aging Treatment

For many reasons, cannabis also works as an anti-aging treatment. First, its capacity to balance cortisol production – the hormone responsible for producing stress – leads to modulated moods and behavior; eliminating stress, in turn, makes one’s skin young-looking, one’s feelings more relaxed, and one’s face free from wrinkles!

Researchers also note the effects of cannabis in ensuring skin elasticity, which refers to how the skin can snap back to how it was even after one stretched it. Once skin elasticity remains, the face can retain its fresh and supple look.

On top of that, a part of the anti-aging properties of cannabis includes combating free radicals. Cannabis is a strong deterrent against oxidative stress; with less oxidative stress, we can ensure the presence of healthy cells.

Preventing Acne With Cannabis

Lastly, CBD regulates sebum production. One gets acne if one has too much sebum on one’s skin.

As such, CBD is rife with so much potential to prevent acne breakouts from happening. To use scientific terminology, what CBD does is prevent human sebocytes from multiplying.

Why Is CBD Used in Makeup Products?

All in all, with science and research as its main allies, makeup products benefit from CBD. It will be no surprise if its status as a hot beauty ingredient and development becomes more widely known worldwide as more countries embrace marijuana’s legalization.
