Kibou is the brainchild of Brooklyn mom Nell Shapiro. Born out of her frustration with unnecessarily large diaper bags, she daydreamed of being able to fit everything that she needed for her baby into a fanny pack (now that they are ooh – so back in style)!
She sat with the idea for two years and then upon becoming pregnant with her second baby, she discovered there was still nothing like this dream-come-true minimalist bag on the market. So, she set to work designing and creating one herself. Kibou launched on Kickstarter on September 16th, 2019, and just 4 weeks ago, Kibou sold over $ 30,000 Deliberately Minimal Diaper Bags. Proof that parents are actively seeking a simpler, lighter bag solution when they’re on the go with their kids.
Kibou isn’t just a fanny pack though. The entire design – each function and dimension specifically enable it to double as a diaper bag . It was essential to us that this bag is not just functional but also look good. So, we worked on prototype after prototype until we achieved the perfect balance between fashion and function , because parents deserve to both feel and look good.
